South-South Cooperation is a collaborative framework of the southern states under the United Nations. This framework aims to share resources, technologies, and knowledges between developing countries, as known as Global South States. Indonesia, as one of country inside Sout-South Cooperation, through BKKBN and Center for Reproductive Health at Faculty of Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada designated Center of Excellence for Family Planning and Reproductive Health. This program is supported by United Nations through United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA).

Center of Excellence for Family Planning and Reproductive Health focus at family planning training. This topic is chosen based on Indonesia’s good track in implementing national Family Planning program. Center for Reproductive Health Faculty of Medicine UGM has been participating active in a lot of researches and programs about Family Planning and Reproductive Health, so it decided to be BKKBN partner for this program.

As an establishment for Center of Excellence for Family Planning and Reproductive Health, the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been held at 11 October 2014 between BKKBN and Faculty of Medicine UGM, and UNFPA as the witness. The event was located at Yogyakarta.

The signing was done by Mrs. Ir. Ambar Rahayu, MNS as Main Secretary of BKKBN, Prof. Dr. dr. Teguh Aryandono, Sp.B(K)Onk as Dean of Medicine Faculty UGM, and Mr. Jose Ferraris as UNFPA Country Representative for Indonesia.

Center of Excellence for Family Planning and Reproductive Health would conduct international family planning training as known as International Comprehensive Right-Based Family Planning Training, at August-September 2015.
